Canby School District

Hello all! The Canby School District, like all Oregon school districts, is facing additional significant budget cuts for the upcoming school year. Here are some of the cuts/changes that could occur:

  • Eliminating the special reading programs
  • Cuts to the music programs for K-12
  • Reduction in school nurses
  • Reduction in Advanced Placement programs
  • Class size increases of up to 30-40 kids for some grades
  • Class blending
  • Reduction of 60+ employees
  • Shortened school year (Oregon schools already have a shorter school year than the average)
  • Furlough days x 4

There is a possibility of a local option that the Canby School Board is discussing.

If anyone is interested in learning more about budget cuts, Superintendent Jennifer Patterson says she is willing to hold additional meetings. Connect with Kamela Davis, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent, phone: 503-266-0004.

Please consider reaching out to your local state representative(s) to voice your concerns with the lack of school funding. Education should be a top priority and it’s not being treated as one.

We are stronger together. Together we can make great things happen. Take care! 🙂
